Description
The remote console feature provides an additional means of access to the system which could allow unauthorized access if not disabled or properly secured. With virtualization technologies, remote console access is essential as there is no physical console for virtual machines. Remote console access must be protected in the same manner as any other remote privileged access method. Applicable, but permanent not-a-finding - remote console access is disabled by default (SSH only) during normal operation. An exception is only for troubleshoot/break/fix scenarios and must only be used on a temporary basis. Lockdown mode is required for all normal operating conditions and all access is from the vSphere Client/Vcenter via the vpxuser proxy.
